I have a cold.

February 22, 2009

So I spent the day in bed, eating delicious things (including 3 blood oranges) and watching the excellent film City of God.

I think it’s time for a new batch of Cupboard Soup.

And on the topic of my impromptu recipes, this treat came to me in a dream yesterday, so I promptly rushed to the market, procured the necessities, and made it.

3 or 4 cups of milk

2 cups of couscous

zest of 1 orange

a tablespoon of honey

generous dash of cinnamon

whatever dried fruits and nuts your heart desires

Bring milk to boil with orange zest. Careful! It will probably boil over, milk is tricky. Add couscous, cover, and remove from heat. When the couscous has absorbed the milk, mix in the honey and cinnamon. Garnish with chopped nuts and dried fruit. Delicious hot or cold.
